Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 August 2026
The short version: TextProof runs entirely on your device. Your recordings, messages and transcripts are never uploaded anywhere, and we could not read them if we wanted to — there are no accounts and no analytics. The only thing the app ever sends is a request asking whether a newer version of itself exists, and that carries nothing about you or your conversations.
What the app does with your content
TextProof reads screen recordings or screenshots that you choose from your photo library, recognises the text in them on your device using Apple's built-in text recognition, and produces a transcript. The recordings, the transcripts and any exported PDF, CSV or TXT files exist only on your device, and anywhere you yourself choose to share or save them — for example via the iOS share sheet.
What we collect
Nothing. TextProof does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data, usage analytics, crash reports, identifiers or message content. The App Store privacy label for TextProof is “Data Not Collected”.
Software updates
The app can correct itself without waiting for a full App Store release, so that a fault found in how it reads messages can be put right quickly. To do that it asks a hosting service run by Expo whether a newer version of the app’s own code is available, and downloads it if there is one. That request contains the app’s version and the kind of device it is running on. It contains no personal data, no identifier that follows you, and nothing whatsoever from your recordings, messages or transcripts — those never leave your device under any circumstances. See Expo’s privacy policy.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is processed by Apple through your Apple ID. Purchase state is verified through RevenueCat, a payment-infrastructure service, which receives an anonymous app-generated identifier and your purchase receipt from Apple — never your messages, recordings or transcripts. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Permissions
TextProof asks for read access to your photo library solely so you can pick the recording or screenshots to transcribe. It never scans your library, and it requests no other permissions.
Your responsibilities
TextProof is designed for exporting your own conversations from your own device. You are responsible for ensuring your use of any exported material complies with the laws that apply to you.
Deleting your data
Delete an export inside the app by long-pressing it on the home screen, or delete the app to remove everything it stored. Because nothing ever leaves your device, there is nothing for us to delete on any server.
Changes and contact
